What is KidType?
KidType is a five-week program that teaches fourth- thru sixth-grade students the basics of touch-typing through fun and interactive games and lessons. The program concludes with a ceremony at which students receive a refurbished computer to take home and keep permanently. Each year, KidType hosts an Annual Type-Off competition for the fastest students in each KidType class. Last year, Richard Riordan awarded a laptop computer to the competition winner.

“It is imperative that the low-income children and families of Los Angeles are given equal access to technology. With the help of local organizations, I believe that the KidType program can make a significant difference in the lives of our children and help to bridge the gap in the Digital Divide.”
