Good Will from Give WILL at First Street Elementary

Do you remember your childhood dream?  Did you want to be an artist?  Maybe a dancer?  How about an astronaut?  Well, Will Adler owner of Will Leather Goods once had a dream when he set up shop on the Venice Boardwalk, selling handmade belts.  Now 30 years later, he's realized that dream, launching three successful stores, including a flagship store in Venice, CA.

In October 2013, Will launched his Give WILL initiative, and is now making dreamers out of children across the United States. With every Will Leather Goods purchase in-store and online, Will and his team make a donation of backpacks to students in grades K-5. On the back of each bag, there is a space to write down a dream, making it a bag for kids to "carry their dreams" in.

Right before our summer program began, LA's BEST teamed up with Will Leather Goods to make dreamers out of over 150 LA's BEST students at First Street Elementary.  Tim Chan, the Business Development Manager for Will Leather Goods, hosted the event and had four students join him in front of their peers to announce their dreams and then write those dreams on each of their backpacks.

Councilmember Jose Huizar also attended the program and presented Will Leather Goods with a Certificate of Recognition for their commitment to helping children in our community.

After the assembly, students returned to their classrooms so they could also write their dreams on their hand-picked backpacks, with the help of volunteers from Will Leather Goods and the BEST Friends board.

LA's BEST is so grateful for companies like Will Leather Goods who choose to give back within their communities.  Thank you to Tim Chan, Will Adler, and the whole team at Will Leather Goods for their generosity and support!
