Clippers All-Star Guard Will Surprise Over 100 Inner-City Kids By Hand-Delivering Gifts

December 6, 2012

You may think he's Chris Paul. But to LA's BEST, he's Kris Kringle.

The LA's BEST After School Enrichment Program announced that five-time NBA All-Star point guard Chris Paul of the Los Angeles Clippers will surprise hundreds of children on December 6 at a local elementary school by hand-delivering Christmas gifts to every child in the program.

The children have no idea he's coming.

“Wait until you see Chris Paul with kids,” said Carla Sanger, President and CEO of LA's BEST. “It's beautiful. They're so comfortable around him. He makes them smile. He talks to them so sincerely, on their level, without ever being condescending. You just don't see celebrities like this very often any more. It's heart-warming.”

Chris will reveal that he's the children's secret Santa at a surprise party from 2:30 pm – 5:30 pm at La Salle Elementary School, 8715 La Salle Avenue, Los Angeles, CA.

The holiday experience began a few days ago, when the kids chose whatever toys they wanted from a custom wish list designed especially for them by LA's BEST. They weren't told who was buying the gifts for them. With the help of a few celebrity elves that the children will recognize from Disney and Nickelodeon television shows, the All-Star point guard will personally deliver a Christmas memory to last a lifetime.

Chris (known as CP3) has always had a passion for early childhood development and enrichment. When he played for the New Orleans Hornets in New Orleans, he partnered with Chase Bank and established the CP3 Afterschool Zone in an effort to insure that the children in New Orleans had a safe, clean place to learn and play after school.

Once he began playing for the Los Angeles Clippers, Chris immediately sought a partner to support after school education, athletics, and art in his new city. He found LA's BEST After School Enrichment Program, which has provided award-winning services for nearly 25 years to underserved families in the city.
