Health Festival Puts the Fun in Fitness and Nutrition for 5,000 Kids and Families

LA’s BEST After School Enrichment Program, the Mexican Consulate, Chivas USA and the Network for a Healthy California host event for LA’s BEST students and families

October 2, 2011

The LA’s BEST Family Health Festival was designed to promote the importance of getting fit and eating well among children and families served by the LA’s BEST after school program.  This free festival is a fun-filled event with a variety of hands-on activities that delight and inform participants; including healthy snack-making booths, physical fitness activities, arts and crafts booths, nutrition education demonstrations, and dental and medical screenings.  There will be special performances by young stars such as Janelle Ortiz of the Disney film Prom, Dillon Lane, star of Nickelodeon’s “Bucket & Skinner’s Epic Adventures,” and Cymphonique, star of Nickelodeon’s upcoming series “How to Rock.”  Also appearing is recording artist Master P.

The Festival is a signature event of BEST Fit, a culturally-relevant  health and fitness program of LA’s BEST. The goal of BEST Fit is to provide fun and innovative opportunities for children and their families to develop healthy eating habits, make physical activity a daily part of their lives, and encourage them to be advocates for a healthy future.
